Andrew Twiss – Audio Engineer

Andrew often asks, of artists and himself, “what if we try…?” It’s this mantra that helps him find new sounds, new production techniques, and new ways to enrich the creator’s vision. Growing up in California with a love for singing, Andrew quickly found himself captivated not only by music itself, but by the art of capturing and shaping sound. At Oberlin College and Conservatory, he combined classical vocal studies with classical recording projects, discovering a passion for audio that led him to Chicago’s post-production and music scene.
Over nearly 30 years, Andrew has carved out a versatile career, working across television, film, advertising, and music. Television credits include six Midwest Emmy-winning projects, such as the mix for PBS’ Great Performances special Chicago Voices, sound design and mixing on The Chicago Lyric Opera’s Pagliacci streaming special, and Emmy-winning work on Chicago Mysteries and Eastland: Chicago’s Deadliest Day. His client roster spans networks such as PBS, A&E, CNBC, and Disney, as well as commercial work for brands like McDonald’s, Toyota, Mazda, P&G, and American Airlines.
In music, Andrew’s ear for vocal detail and creative production has attracted artists including jazz and gospel vocalist Dee Daniels, vocal group Under the Streetlamp, and the team at Fox’s Empire. As primary song mixer and vocal recorder for Empire’s seasons 1 (whose soundtrack achieved Gold certification) and 3 through 6, he worked with artists like Jennifer Hudson, Becky G, Juicy J, and Ne-Yo. He has contributed to numerous music specials for PBS, including Soundstage performances featuring artists such as The Foo Fighters, John Mayer, Jason Isbell, Sheryl Crow, and Neil Young.
Andrew’s film credits range from dialogue editing to re-recording mixing, contributing to films like Kickboxer: Vengeance, Head Games, Gringos, and Eastland: Chicago’s Deadliest Day.
And, he’s the fastest shortkeys master on any ProTools rig. With Andrew, there’s no ‘down-time.’
