Sophia Fishkin – Assistant Engineer • Studio Manager

Sophia inherited the recording bug from her dad, Sam. Growing up in the studio with him, Sophia learned how to be a critical listener of all things audio, from the autotune in pop songs to the mix on TV jingles in between those Saturday morning cartoons.
Sophia’s recent experience includes Editor on Kaiser Permanente’s Live Well & Thrive podcast, WTTW’s Chicago Stories series, and her first Emmy in Outstanding Crafts Achievement for Audio at the 2024 Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards for WTTW’s Chicago Mysteries with Geoffrey Baer.
As a budding audio engineer, Sophia is always looking for the next best opportunity. Her growth mindset and strong listening skills make her an ideal partner in the studio. Looking for a partner on a new project? Curious about how quality recording and mixing can take your project to the next level? Sophia is ready to take on any challenge.
Sophia has experience in live mixing, sound design, mixing & mastering, and foley work. She’s worked in theaters across the Chicagoland area for sound design & operation for live music and visual performances.
As Assistant Sound Engineer at MixKitchen, she’s made herself invaluable on our post-production work for local documentaries and animation projects. She has a knack for finding the missing puzzle pieces in the audio and leads with creativity in problem solving.
As Studio Manager, Sophia runs the logistics side of our operation. Managing schedules, client relations, and the needs of our studio space, Sophia’s top priority is to make everyone feel welcome at MixKitchen. If you want to get to know more about our space, give us a call and Sophia will answer any of your questions.
