27 Mar Broadway to Big Screen; Surrounding Takei’s “Allegiance”
Andrew Twiss mastered the surround theatrical mix at Mix Kitchen for Fathom Events’s exclusive presentation of “George Takei’s Allegiance: The Broadway Musical on the Big Screen.” Based on Takei’s own experiences, the musical centers around the internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII. Captured during the Broadway run of “Allegiance” and starring Takei, Tony®-award winner Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon) and Telly Leung (Godspell, “Glee”), the show features songs by Jay Kuo and a book by Marc Acito, Kuo, and Lorenzo Thione. After an initial presentation on December 13th in 2016, “Allegiance” returned to 325 cinemas nationwide on February 19 of this year – the Japanese American Day of Remembrance and 75th Anniversary of Executive Order 9066 which gave way to the internment of Japanese-Americans.
A BluRay/DVD release is expected in late 2017.
